Clyde SPAN Minutes 04-03-2018

The minutes of the April 3 2018 meeting on SPAN held at 70 Glasgow St. in Clyde, NY at 6:30 p.m.
Present: Tom Castellano; Cheryl Bonnell; Sandi Bastedo; John Robert; Dave Hickey and Tom Sawtelle.
Before the SPAN meeting, Tom Sawtelle presented a list of possible locations for historical markers or interpretive signs for the Clyde Area.


1 Call to order by Tom Castellano at 6:40.


2 John Robert moved to accept the March minutes, seconded by Cheryl Bonnell. Motion passed.


3 The treasurer’s report showed a balance of $7474.27


4 The membership report showed 16 new members to about 82, up from 66.


5 The bus tour has 24 signed up so far for Cooperstown on May 17th. Permission for a school bus to be driven to Auburn for a tour of the Seward mansion at a later date has been received.


6 Sandi is working on the SOAR grant for projects in the next 3 years. Some of the ideas suggested do far deal with the campsites improvements, the upgrading of the kiosks, etc.


7 April 21st is the date set for Canal Clean Sweep. Discussion involved having high visibility neon vests for workers. Tom Castellano moved and Cheryl Bonnell seconded “…that SPAN buy 12 -20 such vests, spending up to $30.” Motion carried.


8 There will be a SOAR meeting on the 10 of April.


9 Sandi Bastedo moved and Cheryl Bonnell seconded ‘…to pay $74. For 12 month rental of the SPAN Post Office Box.
Next meeting is May 1st following a presentation on growing tomatoes.

Clyde SPAN Minutes 03-06-2018

The minutes of the SPAN meeting of March 6, 2018 held at 70 Glasgow Street at 6:30 p.m.

Present: Tom Castellano; Dave Hickey; John Robert; Dolly Romer; Rose Jeanne Strakal; Sandi Bastedo; Hugh Miner; Amy Bullard

1 Sandi Bastedo moved to accept the February minutes with change, seconded by Hugh Miner. Motion carried.


2 Treasurer’s report: Balance of $6549.29. Copy with official records.


3 Membership report: 66 members.


4 Tours: The first one for this year will be to Cooperstown on May 17th, 2018. We are looking to use a school bus for closer trips

.
5 A 21 day Audubon Center Trail system meeting will be held on March 20th at 5:30 p.m.


6 Canal Clean Sweep will be held at Lauraville Landing on April 21, 2018 at 10 a.m. All are welcome.


7 Savannah will continue Canal Clean Sweep on the 22nd at the West Shore Trail. Fruit, water and granola will be available.


8 Bright Red Bookcases: delivery to the elementary school will take place on March 21st, 2018.


9 The National Honor Society will sponsor a blood drive in May.


10 Under New Business, Span will sponsor a Boat Tour on the 14th and 15th of July. Plans are being worked out for one long tour on Saturday and two short trips on Sunday. On Sat. people will be bussed to Stivers Marina in Geneva and return via boat to Clyde.
Hugh miner mover”…to accept the proposal to hire Stivers Tour Boat for July 14 & 15th.” Motion carried.


11 John Robert and Sandi Bastedo will continue to look into signage, kayaks, and kiosks. The Rose Jeanne moved”…to allow Sandi Bastedo and John Robert to buy four to five kayaks, hangers, paddles, and life jackets.” Seconded by Dolly Romer. Motion carried.
There will be a kayak workshop on June 5th from 4 to 6 p.m.


12 Next meeting: April 3rd Tom Sawtelle will talk about the blockhouse and signage topics.
