The minutes of the March 2, 2021 meeting of SPAN via Zoom at 6:30 p.m.
Present: Kelly Furman; Amber Clingerman; Amy Bullard; Hugh Miner; Rose Jeanne Strakal; Sandi Bastedo; Elizabeth Bowby, John and Nancy Bryan; Joe Salerno; Jennifer Peeso; Nicole Malbone; David Hickey
1 Membership: Rose Jeanne Strakal said that 184 letters ready to send in the mail. There were 205 total. Bulk mail is complicated, needing 200+ and there is lots of paperwork. So they will buy stamps and send tomorrow. Elizabeth Bowby said perhaps we could participate with the library. Hugh will investigate. SOAR printed the lables. We do send bulk emails, e.g. Hugh’s newsletter.
2 St. Patrick dinner for March 17 flyer is prepared . This is done with participation with the school. Sign up by March 16, Google doc. Link.
3 Kelly Furman reported that a lock for the kayak shed, one that you can change the combination on, is roughly $110.. There is a range of between $18. to $160. , depending on weatherproofing, etc.
4 Elizabeth Bowby told of a program at the library with John and Nancy Bryan. We’d like to get them on our page in the future.
5 Joe Salerno, Class of 68 at Clyde-Savannah, is interested in Clyde History. He would like to tell of the history of the Clyde fireworks, have a ½ day with speakers in August. He hope to have SPAN sponsorship and involve the community in artwork, etc. The mayor is on board, the library, and the firemen.
Sandi Bastedo moved “….that SPAN will endorse “Memories of Clyde” event on August 14th, 2021” Motion passed.
6 Sandi Bastedo proposed that we purchase 8 plaques honoring Tom Castellano to be attached to the Bright Red Bookshelves at a cost of $140. total. Sandi moved that we do get them. Motion passed.
7 The subject of a spring Easter festival was discussed with different possible events ( scavenger hunt; Easter egg hunt) planned for April 3rd.
